Robolights have recently refurbished and replicated the bespoke house light fittings at this fantastic and historic venue. Brixton Academy has been hosting famous names since 1972, with over 50 live albums having been recorded there. The list of great names that have played there include Hawkwind, Motorhead, Gary Numan, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, The Clash, The Sex Pistols and Madonna to name but a few.
Robolights were tasked with refurbishing, reworking and rewiring of the existing fittings and also to replicate them with a new batch of wall lanterns for the auditorium. A mixture of old and new technologies have been used to create these including the laser cutting of new parts and the hand forging of decorative scrolls under the guidance of the late, great ‘Devonshire’ Dave Denford who helped us achieve this. Sadly, Dave passed away in early 2020, so here at Robolights we are dedicating this project to him.
